Shikhar Dhawan Biography
Dhawan is just one of many promising Indian youngsters who have come into the limelight thanks to a good showing in the IPL. The opener who was touted as big-stage material for long was finally given the chance to prove his credentials when he was selected for the 2010 India-Australia ODI series.
The southpaw’s talent first came to the fore in a stellar 2004 Under-19 WC campaign in which he scored 505 runs at an astonishing average of 84.16 and laced it with three stunning centuries. He went on to have a brilliant 2004-05 debut season with Delhi and has continued to remain one of the capital’s most consistent performers over the years.
Gobbled up by the Delhi Daredevils in the inaugural IPL, Dhawan shifted allegiance to the Mumbai Indians in the following season where the backing of larger franchise seemed to have benefited him. His swagger and flourish in offence and defence, combined with his brilliant fielding skills have won him plaudits with the only criticism levelled against him being the failure to convert starts.
