Chris Woakes

Chris Woakes Biography
Chris Woakes has been described as the ideal young cricketer by his county side, Warwickshire. A good bowler and batsman, it is his integrity and work ethic that makes those who have noticed the youngster to believe that he is a cricketer with a great future in front of him. A pace bowler with an impressive out-swinger, he has bowled well for Warwickshire ever since he graduated to their first XI in 2008, taking several five-wicket hauls. Although he bats lower down the order, he has a grasp of all the shots and has even made centuries in first-class matches.

In 2009, Woakes received a call-up from the national side for the World Twenty20, and although he did not play a match, none other than Allan Donald predicted that he would be a future star for England. He continued to impress selectors with an outstanding bowling effort against the West Indies for the England Lions that year and was also instrumental in England’s victory over Australia in a T20I early in 2011. He struck the winning runs on the last ball of the match with just one wicket remaining.
